David Bowie leaves wife millions
David Bowie made millions during his musical career that spanned almost half a century! His income came from the 140 million records that were sold, and much of his wealth came from financial instruments from the royalties he received. These were known as ‘Bowie Bonds’ and they are estimated to be worth nearly $55 million.
Bowie left his children, 44 year-old Duncan from his first marriage and 15 year-old Alexandria from his second marriage to model Iman, 25% each of his total estate. Alexandria also received a property near Woodstock on Little Tonshi Mountain. The remaining 50% of the total estate was willed to his wife, Iman. This includes the apartment they both lived in Manhattan as well.
Bowie also left a generous amount of $1 million to his long-time secretary Coco, and $2 million to his close friend Marion. She was a nanny to his eldest son Duncan.
David Bowie died early last month of liver cancer. He celebrated his 69th birthday just 2 days before the tragedy struck the Bowie family. His last album, known as “Blackstar” was coincidentally released on the same day.
His death caused quite a stir in the music industry and there were many artists who paid tribute to the rock star in many ways. Artists such as Madonna, Kanye West, Lorde, and many others were very vocal about their love for Bowie and his music. There are tribute concerts being scheduled in London. A tremendous number of Bowie’s fans gathered outside his home to show their condolences and offered flowers and candles.
According to the 20-page will of David Bowie, there was to be no funeral. Instead, the family was requested to burn his body and to scatter his ashes in Bali.
